A place to learn. A team to grow with.

From a first dribble to competitive travel ball, KBA programs emphasize fundamentals, teamwork and good sportsmanship. Every child who registers gets a place to play.

Grades 1–2 • October–December

Little Lakers

Skill-based instructional basketball for first- and second-grade boys and girls, run as part of our Recreation Division. See the Little Lakers page for details.

Grades 3–8 • October–March

Winter Basketball

2026–27 intramural league: beginning October 17, the season opens with an 8-week intramural league — 3–4 teams per age group (pending interest), one 75-minute session a week that blends practice and games, and teams evenly divided for fair but competitive play. General registration is $50 and includes a Kinderhook Lakers player tee.

Extended winter season (by invitation, $150): after intramurals, invited players continue with four more months of basketball — potentially 2–3 commitments per week and a 12–16 game season in the Troy CYO or the newly formed Hudson Valley league — plus a customized Kinderhook Lakers jersey with player name.

Home games are played at Ichabod Crane Middle and High School; travel teams also play at schools across the Capital Region.

Grades 3–12 • March–June

Kinderhook Lakers AAU (Spring)

Competitive club teams that play weekend tournaments and local leagues across the Northeast, with added skill-based instruction. Team composition depends on participation.

• Skills & Drills (grades 3–5, boys and girls): game-like scenarios and in-house scrimmages, typically April–May.

• Travel teams (grades 5–12): 5/6 Boys, 5/6 Girls, 7/8 Boys, JV Boys and Varsity Boys — usually two practices a week, with games on weeknights or weekends.

• Tryouts: players must register before tryouts ($10 tryout fee). Season costs vary with tournaments and roster size — typically $300–$400, plus a Lakers uniform if needed.
